  1. The project "Measuring a Common Space and the Dynamics of Reform
Positions" hosted at the Research Center (SFB 884) "Political Economy
of Reforms" at the University of Mannheim is looking as soon as
    possible for a:

Post-Doctoral Researcher in Quantitative Methods (Political Text Analysis).

The goal of the research project is to develop new methods for
comparing policy positions of political parties, elites, and voters in
an interdisciplinary context (PIs: Nicole Baerg, Thomas Gschwend, Will
Lowe, Heiner Stuckenschmidt). The post-doc is expected to actively
participate in the development of new tools for political text
analysis useful for analysing newspaper articles, political speeches,
committee minutes, and other political texts.

The mission of the interdisciplinary Research Center (SFB 884) on the
Political Economy of Reforms is to gain new insights into the success
and failure of political reforms in democracies. It draws together
researchers in economics, political science, and sociology at the
University of Mannheim. The English‐speaking environment of the SFB
offers an excellent opportunity to work in a team with a strong focus
non quantitative research and international collaboration. The Center
is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). More information
about the Center is available at http://reforms.uni-mannheim.de.

The successful applicant should hold a doctoral degree in political
science or relevant discipline with a strong quantitative background.
The position will be awarded as soon as possible and funding for the
position is available until December 31, 2015 with possible extension
    until December 31, 2017.

Salary is commensurate with experience and is at least 40,000 Euros
with additional employer benefits (according to public pay scheme TV-L
E13). Applications should be submitted in English and include a CV,
publication list, and letter of motivation. The letter of motivation
should outline the substantive research agenda of the candidate.
Please send your application by May 30, 2014 to
nicole.baerg@uni-mannheim.de. As an equal opportunity employer, the
University of Mannheim particularly encourages applications from women
    and persons with disabilities.
