EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR THE GENDER EQUALITY RESEARCH FELLOWS
-
The European Roma Rights Centre invites
applications for its 2014 Gender Equality Research Fellows. The Gender
Equality Research Fellowship provides an opportunity for interested
researchers and activists to conduct research on gender equality
issues. While actual recruitment to all ERRC calls is strictly on
merit, the organisation strives to increase the number of persons of
Roma origin in its team and therefore specifically encourages
candidates of Roma background to apply for the Fellowship.
Deadline for applications: 15 September 2014
Information about the fellowship
The Fellowship is expected to start at the end of September 2014 and
will last for at least four and at most six months. Fellows will begin
by spending a period of time in ERRC office in Budapest, Hungary, for
orientation and preparation of the research project. During this time,
Fellows will work closely with ERRC staff members on designing
research, methodology, and the advocacy component (including media and
communications) and learning basic financial orientation and human
rights education, as relevant. Fellows will then return to their
country to implement their research plan with the ongoing assistance
of the ERRC. Fellows will spend up to two weeks at the ERRC office in
Budapest at the end of the fellowship to finalise their research
report. The Fellows will work closely with ERRC staff members
throughout all stages of their research.
Profile of the applicants
The Gender Equality Research Fellowship is a component of ERRC
activities aimed at capacitating Romani, Sinti and Traveller

gender inequality and racial discrimination with focus on the issues
in access to health care, housing, education, and identity documents;
more specifically in Hungary the focus should be on sex and
gender-stereotyping of Romani girls, while fellows in Italy and
Romania should work together to research human rights violations faced
by Romani women and girls who intermittently travel between Italy and
Romania. All research projects should be action-oriented, i.e. they
should be directed toward specific advocacy goals to benefit Romani
communities and individuals. The ERRC offers Fellows a monthly
stipend and financial support for expenses incurred during the
research. To apply for this fellowship, candidates should send the
following application materials:
